In situ observations of fish attraction to light-emitting diodes on an undersea observation deck

Many fisheries employ fishing lights to manipulate the behaviors of target fish and attract them toward light; however, relatively few long-time observations attraction have been performed in field. Here, an underwater observation deck was used examine differences fish-attracting effect light-emitting diode (LED) on number attracted their behavior field, using white-edged rockfish as species. A total 604 ± 324, 307 203 171 106 individuals were window when it illuminated with blue, green, red light, respectively. Under blue remained for 133.6 129.8 s around window, while under green they stayed 72.5 76.7 45.7 52.2 s, The longer time spent light may result increase counted, this would be related both transparency wavelength visual sensitivity rockfish. Other environments produced by LED suitable species, terms preferred intensity optimal feeding environment. results presented study contribute a better understanding ecology suggest selective efficient use species fisheries.
